A: No. You can browse and search ads without registering, and even contact the seller, however you must register to place an ad, and use all the features of the site. Registration is FREE.

Q. How do I pay for my ads, or add to my Account Balance?

A: Your payment options are available at check out. You may click the link to the PayPal web site, for safe and secure payment with a credit card, or a PayPal account. This will activate your listings, or account balance without delay. If you prefer, you may select the check or money order payment option, and mail a check or money order to Exceptional Properties, Inc., PO Box 132, Moneta, VA 24121. Please DO NOT send cash. Include your User Name with your payment. When your payment is received and processed, your ad will be activated, or your account balance updated.

Q. I sold my item. Should I cancel my ad?

A: You may either stop the ad by deleting it, or mark it “Sold” by going to the listing under My Account, and clicking on "SOLD" for that item.

Q. What category should I put my ad in?

A: Choose the most appropriate main category from the list, then a sub category, if there are any for that main category. Some items may be appropriate for more than one category, for instance an antique desk could be listed under both Antiques and also under Furniture. The choice is up to you, but please list only in categories appropriate for the item listed.

Q. How does the geographic set-up work?

A. This site is set up to serve communities within the Commonwealth of Virginia. There are Regions, with Counties, and some Cities within the Regions. When you register or create ads, you may select a Region, and a County or City for your community. Your ad will be searchable based on the community you selected. This will not limit your ad from being found on a general or state-wide search.

Q. What region should I list my ad in?

A: The region and community fields are optional, but you would normally select the region you live in, or where the item being listed is located. By default, the region will be the region you specified on your profile when you registered, but you can change this when listing an item.

Q. Will my ad be visible in all regions?

A: Yes. All ads are visible in any region. The system will, however, show a searcher ads in their region first, then ads from outside their region.

Q. I don't want to have my name, phone number, or email address listed in the ad. What should I do?

A: You can have your personal information remain private. Update your email privacy preferences from the "My Account" page. You may delete the phone number and address on the listing form, if it was entered from your profile information.

Q. If my information is private, how can I be contacted?

A: When your ad appears, instead of showing your contact information the following appears: "This seller has chosen to remain private. You may contact this seller via anonymous email by clicking here." The prospective buyer completes an on-line form and the system sends you an email without revealing your information to the prospective buyer.

Q. Why can't I log in to my account?

A. If you have set up an account and can’t log in, the problem is usually that the user name or password have been entered differently than when you set up the account. The password is case sensitive. Your User Name may have upper and lower case for clarity, such as "UserName" but may be entered into the log-in either way. If you would like to have your log-in information sent to you by email, click on “I forgot my password.”

Q. Why do my photos not upload?

A. If the file size is too large there will be a problem. Try to keep them under 1mb with the ideal around 500kb. If the file size is too small (less than about 20kb), the photos will appear as "thumbnail" size and will not enlarge. See "Photo Tips" for more information on photos for your listing. You may use photos in these formats:

JPEG (.jpg file extension)
BMP (.bmp file extension)
GIF (.gif file extension)
TIFF (.tif file extension)
PNG (.png file extension)

Q. Why is this site only for the Commonwealth of Virginia?

A. We have created the site to support local communities, and have limited it to our home state to focus on this area, rather than the entire country, in order to better achieve our goal.

Q. Is there any restriction on the type or content of ads that can be placed?

A. YES! Although the ads are not automatically restricted by the program, we attempt to maintain a pleasant and wholesome site, and therefore have restrictions on the content as outlined in the Terms of Use Agreement. This includes any offensive, vulgar, or unlawful language or activity. A listing in violation is subject to removal from the site without refund.

Q. What can I do to help if I see an offensive listing or a violation of the Terms of Use Agreement?

A. If you see a listing that you feel is inappropriate or in violation of these terms, please report it by using the link at the bottom of the listing. Just click on the link and an email message will open with the subject filled in with the item number of the listing. Then all you have to do is click "send." We appreciate your help in keeping this a quality site.
